The highest representatives from ELEKTROPRIVREDA HRVATSKE ZAJEDNICE HERCEG BOSNE d.d Mostar (EPHZHB) and HRVATSKE BURZE ELEKTRIČNE ENERGIJE d.o.o. (CROPEX) held bilateral meetings on 23rd February 2016 in Mostar and 22nd March 2016 in Zagreb.
At the first meeting in Mostar EPHZHB was represented by Managing Director Mr. Marinko Gilja and Head of the Market Department Mr. Ervin Leko, while CROPEX was represented by Director Mr. Silvio Brkić, Head of Business Development Department Mr. Boris Dokmanović, Head of Market Operations Department Mr. Ante Mikulić and Head of Key Account and Sales Department Mr. Ivica Toljan.
On the second meeting in Zagreb, EPHZHB was represented by Mr. Ervin Leko with the participation of the same representatives from CROPEX.
CROPEX presented to EPHZHB basic information and functional features and business plans at national, EU and regional levels in South East Europe.
CROPEX also introduced to EPHZHB the new regulation on issuing energy licences that allows issuance of licences by the Croatian Energy Regulatory Agency to companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as to the companies from countries of the Energy Community without the need for establishment of companies or subsidiaries in Croatia. With the liberalization of issuing the energy licences, Croatian electricity market has become more accessible for buying and selling at the bilateral and organized electricity market.
CROPEX is neighbouring EU power exchange to Bosnia and Herzegovina which is involved in the operational work of MRC (Multi Regional Coupling) day ahead EU market, which opens an additional possibility to market participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina for a simple, transparent and effective buying and selling of electricity with no counterparty risk, as CROPEX is assuming the role of central counterparty for all trades.
EPHZHB introduced CROPEX with basic characteristics from their work and business plans. EPHZHB reported that it fully supports the CROPEX activities and hopes to become active member on CROPEX market very soon. EPHZHB sees the opportunities to strengthen its market position in the EU market through its cooperation with CROPEX and gives its full support to CROPEX in strengthening bilateral activities on coupling respective electricity markets of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of an integrated EU market with the involvement of all key stakeholders and institutions of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was also discussed at the meetings about relevant legislative framework of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and possible development of organized electricity market in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The next meeting is planned for mid-April 2016, in Mostar.
